- For a partnership in which 75% of partnership assets are vested in Alberta physiotherapists.
- For a physiotherapy corporation.
- For a government institution, agency, nursing home, approved hospital, health authority.
- For an approved employer.
Approved employers
Physiotherapy Alberta must approve any type of business arrangement that does not meet the requirements of 1-5 listed above.
Individuals or organizations, not meeting the requirements of 1-5 above, who wish to employ physiotherapists (not contract) must meet the following criteria:
- Provide evidence of employer’s responsibilities related to employing physiotherapists (i.e., awareness of governing legislation, code of ethics, practice standards).
- Provide evidence of a practice environment where physiotherapists may practice autonomously.
- Agree to allow Physiotherapy Alberta access to the premise to conduct inspections and/or practice visits.
Employers must apply in writing and provide written evidence/documentation to support their application and pay an application fee.
