Liability Insurance

As a condition of registration, physiotherapists on the general and provisional registers must hold individual professional liability insurance in the amount of $5 million per occurrence/patient and $5 million minimum for the policy year. Coverage must extend to all activities related to the member's practice of physiotherapy, e.g., clinical practice, teaching physiotherapy, volunteering at a sporting event.

Liability (malpractice) insurance is offered through a variety of vendors. Not all policies offer the same coverage. Physiotherapy Alberta provides these links to encourage Alberta physiotherapists to make informed decisions. Physiotherapy Alberta does not endorse a specific product or validate the information contained within each vendor’s website.
