Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators Board of Directors Nomination
Joyce Vogelgesang was nominated as the Alberta representative to the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators Board of Directors.
Carol Robertsen was appointed as the scrutineer for the 2020 election.
The audited financial statements for the year ended September 30, 2019 were approved. The financial statements will be included in the 2019 Annual Report.
Bylaw Amendment Bylaw
47(2) was amended. The bylaw now reads:
47 (2) The Council hereby designates the Registration Committee Chair as the individual to carry out the duties under section 86 of the HPA. In the event that the Registration Committee Chair was involved in a request for an interim condition/suspension of the same registrant, the Council shall appoint an alternate designate.
The Registration Committee Chair replaces the Registrar to carry out duties under s 86 of the Health Professions Act. The initial bylaw was first drafted in 2008 prior to being proclaimed under the Health Professions Act.
Thierry Lamvohee has been re-appointed to the Registration Committee for another 3-year term.
Fair Registration Practices Act
On March 1, 2020, the Fair Registration Practices Act came into force covering over 60 professions. The legislation sets out four general duties for regulatory bodies during the registration process. These duties require the college to be transparent, objective, impartial and procedurally fair.
